When thinking about things, or focusing on work or reading, do you think about "needing a separate peaceful space"?
Generally speaking, many people think that the environment of work or reading is best to be more peaceful.
However, Ravi Mehta and others from the University of Illinois published a surprising research report.
Meta and the others conducted five practical experiments to investigate which of the following environments can best improve work efficiency.
①"Noise level is lower (50 points): about the quiet office"②"Noise level is medium (70 points): about the inside of a car driving on the highway"
③"Noise level is higher (85 points): about the siren sound of a rescue vehicle"
It was found that when people are in the 20 points environment, their creativity will be improved. On the other hand, when the surrounding sound reaches the level of the 85th minute, it will hinder thinking.
In other words, a slightly noisy environment is better for the brain. It is very suitable to think about "abstract things", such as "conceptual thinking" such as framing the content of a plan, summarizing a report, thinking about new proposals, and formulating strategies.
The brain likes new stimulation. On the contrary, doing the same work in the same environment can quickly make your brain tired. After all, my brain is not very good at longing and focusing on one thing.
Based on this point, in terms of working environment, I suggest choosing a "coffee shop that won't be too peaceful".
There are three reasons. The first is what I mentioned just now. When people are in a certain level of noise such as human voice or bowl and plate sound, their work will be more efficient. This is called "Coffee House Effect".
The second reason is "scent".
Seoul University researchers said that "the aroma of coffee beans has the effect of promoting the rejuvenation of brain cells destroyed by reactive oxygen." The reactive oxygen species mentioned here have been recognized as a substance that causes sleep deprivation and fatigue.
In this experiment, they studied the inside of the brain of sleep-deprived mice. Under this state, there are very few cells in the mice that can suppress pressure, and at this time they will smell the aroma of coffee beans. It was found that this had the effect of reincarnating some cells.
Sentence: We can expect the aroma of coffee beans to eliminate fatigue or suppress pressure. In fact, the aroma of coffee beans is indeed irritating, and it can make people feel trembling and awake.
And the third reason I suggest choosing a cafe is to expect to achieve the effect of changing consciousness through "conventional instantiation".
Go to the cafe I usually go to and work there. If this behavior continues, you can establish a system that makes you think of "going to a cafe" and you will reflectively "the brain needs to do creative work", and then you can concentrate as soon as you go to the cafe (turn off the fly).
Of course, this system can be used at home.
Prepare a "work area" and build a system that "just sit in this seat and against this table, your brain will become very creative." Playing music or broadcasts at work, or family sounds, and outside sounds, will stimulate our brains; if you prepare a cup of coffee (the key is fragrance, only coffee beans can do it), you can create an environment similar to a coffee shop.
No matter what, don't think nervously that "you can't be focused if you are not in a peaceful place." You might as well think "in fact, a little noisy environment is better" and try to relax your spirits. I believe that doing this will definitely make you perform better than before.
How to UNTHINKNeurologically think about "be careful now". In fact, you can concentrate instead of thinking so much.
