Vice President of the Executive Yuan, Zheng Lijun, recently went to the United States to discuss the taxes against other parties. She took a plane back to Taiwan this morning. Zheng Lijun said that the verdict team has never made a promise of 50% to score a chip, and has not discussed this question this time, nor will they answer such conditions.

Zheng Lijun took Changrong Airlines flight back to Taiwan from the United States in the early morning. She was interviewed by media at Taoyuan International Airport and said that the debate team went to the Hua Palace this time to fight for issues such as reducing taxes and not adding the original tax rate, as well as preferential treatment related to terms of 232, and has made certain progress in specific discussions with the US Trade Representative Office and the Ministry of Commerce.

Zheng Lijun said that for the Ministry of Commerce, Taiwan-US supply chain cooperation is still in continuous consultations, and the projects of each item under the 232 investigation are also increasing. Therefore, we also hope to make a more complete discussion on the preferential treatment of each item related to the 232 regulations, and we will continue to negotiate with the US side in the interests of the country and industry.

Zheng Lijun pointed out that after the two parties have obtained complete common understanding of taxes related to the taxes, tax preferential treatment related to clauses 232, and supply chain cooperation, they will enter the general meeting to reach a trade agreement between Taiwan and the United States.

Regarding the concern of the public whether there is a 55% chip condition, Zheng Lijun also specifically explained to the public, "I think this is the US's idea. Our delegation has never made a 55% chip promise. Please rest assured that we have not discussed this issue this time, and we will not answer such conditions. Please rest assured." Regarding the consultation situation at this stage, the Executive Yuan will immediately make a formal statement to the public.

Taiwan currently has a regular tax rate of 20%. Replying to the Taiwan-US negotiation process, Taiwan and the United States held their first video meeting on April 11, held their first round of physical consultations in the Chinese government on May 1, held their second round of taxes on June 25, held their third round of consultations in the United States on July 8, and held their fourth round of consultations from the end of July to early August.
