According to the "Mirror" report, Manchester United executives held talks with senior players in the team to discuss the current situation of the club, while Amorim's future is still full of uncertainty.

The international break has done little to quell speculation about Amorim's future at Manchester United. According to the Metro, Manchester United senior management has held conversations with some key players in the team to understand the mood within the team.

The 40-year-old Amorim is about to celebrate his first anniversary at Old Trafford. He took over Ten Hag's position in November 2024. However, after leading the team to a record-low 15th place in the Premier League last season, the pace of progress this season has not met many people's expectations.

This season, Manchester United was eliminated by the English League Two team in the League Cup, further damaging their morale. Amorim's side are still without an away win and the club's hierarchy have therefore turned to certain players to get their views on the team's current situation.

This situation is reminiscent of the seven-hour marathon meeting between Ten Hag and Manchester United's top brass at the same time last year. Ten Hag was fired shortly after that meeting.

Manchester United owner Joel Glazer, chief executive Omar Berada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox gathered at their offices in Knightsbridge, London, to discuss the club's current situation. Board member Jean-Claude Brown, chief operating officer Colette Roach and chief financial officer Roger Bell are also believed to have been involved in the meeting.

In the last meeting, Ten Hag was dismissed only three weeks after the meeting. United's top brass may soon have to hold another similar meeting as problems on the pitch continue to accumulate.

Omar Berada and Jason Wilcox are believed to be leading the latest discussions between the club's management and players. Captain Bruno Fernandes is one of those being consulted, while other players have also been consulted.

While these conversations are considered random and not necessarily intended to assess Amorim's status at the club, such talks would not normally occur at a smoothly running club.

Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been forced to answer questions about his manager's future on several occasions. The Ineos billionaire has defended his manager and said he hopes the Portuguese boss will stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

"He's had a bad season," Ratcliffe said on the first episode of "The Business Podcast" that Amorim is a good guy. "He needs to prove in three years that he is a great coach. This is my position on this issue."

These remarks were made amid growing anger among fans towards the club's operations. The Glazer family's management of Manchester United has been a source of dissatisfaction among fans, and Ratcliffe has struggled to change fans' sentiment since acquiring nearly 30% of the shares and taking over day-to-day operations last year.

Recently, coaches such as Oliver Glaser, Eddie Howe, Southgate and Simeone have all been mentioned as possible candidates to take over as Manchester United coach. However, it seems that current coach Amorim will remain in office for the time being.

Despite having coached 50 Premier League games, Amorim has yet to win consecutive games in the league. The Red Devils performed well at home, beating Sunderland 2-0 before the international break, but their away form remains sluggish.

Manchester United currently ranks 10th in the league, only two points away from the top six. In the next month, they will face strong opponents such as Liverpool, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
