According to the BBC, Crystal Palace is negotiating a contract renewal with Mattha, and although no final agreement has been reached, the two parties are close to signing the contract.

The 27-year-old Frenchman performed well at Crystal Palace, who scored 17 goals in all competitions, helped Crystal Palace win the FA Cup, the first major trophy in their history.

Mattha originally joined Crystal Palace on loan from Mainz in 2021, and was then officially bought out. He has been rumored to transfer with clubs such as Aston Villa, Manchester United and Marseille.

Currently, Mattha's contract will expire in 2027 as the club has triggered a 12-month extension in his contract. However, Crystal Palace is reluctant to let him enter the final year of his contract and hopes to secure his long-term future.

According to the BBC, Crystal Palace may have to wait until the end of the month to determine whether it will be able to participate in the UEFA Europa League in 2025/26, which may affect Matteta's decision.

Under UEFA regulations, individuals are prohibited from controlling multiple teams in the same event to avoid conflicts of interest. Eagle Football (a multi-club group owned by John Textor) owns part of the stake in Crystal Palace and also owns a majority stake in Ligue 1 team Lyon, who has also qualified for the Europa League next season.
