According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the male owner of 49 was sleeping soundly when a detached house caught fire on Clegg Road, Wandin North District, Melbourne at about 1 a.m. on Monday, September 1.

When firefighters arrived at the scene soon after, they found the male owner in the bushes next to the house. "It was his cat who woke him up and he left the house. He came out of the bush after we arrived at the scene."
