A life is something that all life desires, but in the process of life, we will always encounter various "Cheng Yaojin" that hinders life and health. A large part of the health problems of cats come from kidney failure. Renal failure is divided into chronic and acute. Let’s take a look at how cats should prevent these problems.

Chronic renal failure in cats:

Chronic renal failure is a serious syndrome in the advanced stage of chronic kidney disease. Due to abnormal renal excretion and regulation function, many serious metabolic disorders and symptoms of water, electrolytes and acid-base balance disorders have occurred in clinical practice. In most cases, the disease gradually develops and worsens over time, and the speed of the disease progression varies greatly between individuals, often occurring in middle-aged and elderly cats.

Note: It usually occurs in cats over 7 years old and becomes more common with age; dogs can also have it, but the incidence rate of cats is three times that of them. The five main functions of the kidneys

filter waste from the body (mainly urea and creatinine)

regulate electrolytes (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium)

promote the production of erythropoietin and help stimulate the production of erythropoietin, a kind of enzyme that controls blood pressure, produces urine, whether it is an animal or a human, the reason why two kidneys are grown is because the body will gradually lose its function over time, so the other kidney is used as a reserve. In fact, it only takes 30% of the renal function to maintain normal body. Therefore, until about 70% of the renal function is lost, no symptoms will occur and the body can still function normally. However, if symptoms of kidney disease occur, it can already affect life. Parents are advised not to hesitate and send the cat to the hospital for treatment immediately.

Because kidney disease requires long-term accumulation and lesions, current medical methods have no way to prevent such diseases. It is recommended that parents take their cats for physical examinations regularly to achieve the purpose of early detection of kidney disease. Especially for middle-aged and elderly cats (around 7 years old) and cats with congenital kidney diseases such as polycystic kidney disease (such as Persian cats), the earlier the examination, the better the treatment effect. Cats are relatively fragile and should pay more attention to their diet and life in daily life to avoid curing when the disease occurs.
